In June 2013, María Elena Posadas, founder of Onco Loreto, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
During her treatment, she became aware of a terrible reality- Women facing cancer suffered also from other situations in hospitals such as lack of resources and information but, especially, lack of warm and close company along the process.
She returned to Loreto in 2015 determined to help other women diagnosed with cancer and start a permanent work to consolidate a culture of prevention that help reduce the mortality rate in Baja California Sur.
